You absolutely read it right and we know that you have a limited budget to get that room makeover. Here are some quick steps

Step 1: Create your long-term decorating plan (need not be an Auto-Cad designer, but a basic sketch on pen-paper, just for you to visualize). If you’re not sure what look you want in that empty space which has a beam, or a small corner which may go wasted, browse through some decorating magazines and tear out photos of rooms you love. You’ll see a pattern in the color scheme, furniture and accents.

Step 2: Once you’ve frozen on your style, plan out every detail of the room, from the wall color to the fabric you’ll use for pillows. Determine what furnishings you will need and where each piece will go. Do you want to use any of your existing furniture? If so, will it need to be reupholstered? Work all this into the plan.

Step 3: When your plan is finished, assemble the bones of the room. Paint your walls. Pick the rug. Place key furnishings, such as the sofa and larger chairs. Then hang a piece of artwork you absolutely adore to give the room instant warmth and character.

Now, wasn’t that quick? Need an expert advice on room make-over, do get in touch with our expert in-house designers for some path breaking concepts and idea which your neighbours will envy

Quite often, the problem is not planning redecorating, you may even have the funds just burning a hold in your pocket, waiting to be spent; sometimes, the problem is simply deciding what you want to do! Whether your mind is blank or if you’re over-inspired with so many fantastic ideas that you can’t decide on one, these tips will help get on track.

Finding Inspiration
If you’re having a hard time finding something to inspire you, maybe you’re looking for too much. Instead of trying to vision an entire room, perhaps find a rug, piece of art or a color that just draws you in and then plan your decorating scheme around that. Sometimes just looking through magazines, browsing the internet or going shopping will trigger the design that you’ve been looking for.

Finding Your Style
Don’t be afraid to try something that is totally not you! If you’ve always had neutral rooms, go bold! Been doing the contemporary thing since before it was in style? Why not try Victorian? It’s always a thrill to shop for antiques and vintage items.

Reuse What You Can
On a budget? Quite often, just changing the paint color on your walls, buying a new cover for the couch, moving the furniture around and adding a few new decorative pillows is all that you need to get you out of the boring rut that you’ve found yourself in.

Address Your Lighting
Whether you’re doing an entire remodel or just sprucing things up a bit, don’t overlook your lighting. There is nothing exciting about that same light fixture you’ve been looking at for the past 10 years. Adding pendants, recess lighting, chandeliers, wall scones or an assortment of fun lamps will give your space an instant facelift. You can’t imagine the impact that stylish lighting can have on a room until you see the transformation!

Do you clean your furniture regularly? Don’t wait until you can see the dust on it. Add this job to your weekly cleaning routine, and you’ll save a hassle down the road.

First, take off the pillows and the cushions and use the crevice tool on your vacuum to really get into all those spots that hold the dust and dirt. If the cushions are not removable, dig your crevice tool into all the available seams and corners. Replace the cushions and look over the pieces carefully; if you see any spots or stains treat them immediately.

If you have a stain on a cushion, don’t pull the cover off and throw it in the wash. This could cause damage and shrinkage. Unzip the back of the cushion and put a towel in between the cushion and the fabric cover; then treat the stain accordingly. Test any cleaning solution on a hidden part of the upholstery for colorfastness. It’s a good idea to contact the furniture or upholstery manufacturer to see if you can get specific cleaning instructions for your particular fabric.

For a generic spot treater, whip together two teaspoons of clear dish soap and a half a cup of water until it’s nice and foamy. Use a damp white cloth to dab the mixture onto the stain. (Make sure that the cloth is white because it won’t transfer dyes like a colored cloth could.)

When you can see that the stain has lifted, dab the soap out with a second cloth and clean water. For an even easier spot treater, try white shaving cream. Use very little on a damp white cloth to treat all kinds of mystery stains. When the stain is gone, dab with a second cloth and clean water.

These tips should help your upholstered furnishings look and smell great and last longer too!

Yes, it does matter when it comes to buying or visualizing what fits in your lovely room. A question to ask when making furniture choice: is this furniture too large for my home? Whether it’s the size and proportion of the furniture compared to the other stuff in your room, or the issue of how specific pieces will fit in your room, this detail is one of the most important to think when buying home furniture. There’s nothing like having your heart set on that one perfect furniture, only to have it delivered and find out there’s no way to get it into your room. Or to find out that it takes up half the room and looks completely out of place!

Any furniture is likely to look smaller in the showroom than it will in your home unless, of course, you live in a mansion! But for those of us that have an average-size home with average-size rooms, we need to have average-size furniture in order to look proportionate. That doesn’t mean you have to be limited in style or design. There are many manufacturers who cater to the “average” size.

So, with all that being said, by having a few extra measurements of your passage, halls and the other pieces in the room, you can save yourself a lot of time by not having to start over in the selection process and then waiting until you get the new delivery. It’s true what they say … size does matter!
